Christmas: Joseph's Story

A modern retelling of the Christmas story.

Imagine being engaged to be married - you are excited and cannot wait for the wedding day to come around. Imagine discovering that the girl you are planning to marry is pregnant and you know for a fact you are not the father!

This was the situation that faced Joseph. (Read more about the story in Matthew 1). He was engaged to be married to Mary but before they were married she fell pregnant. Joseph was trying to work out what to do when that night he had a dream and an angel spoke to him:

“Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because the baby she is carrying is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:20-21)

The Bible says that "When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife... And he gave him the name Jesus" (Matthew 1:24-25).

This resource is a dramatic retelling of Joseph's story.
