Judaism and Christianity
How does one Jew who believes that Jesus is the Messiah view the link between Christianity and Judaism?
For many people Christianity is believed to have its roots firmly in the Jewish faith.
For centuries Judaism has believed that God is going to send a Messiah, a conquering King, who will come to bring freedom and restoration, returning the world to the way God intended it to be.
At the time of Jesus, the expectation that God’s chosen Messiah would soon come to earth was very strong. Many of the first Christians were Jews who believed that Jesus was just that person – the Son of God and the Messiah that they’d been waiting for. This remains at the very heart of Christianity – the belief in Jesus as the One that God sent to bring freedom and restoration to the world.
Christianity can be seen as continuing the Jewish faith. But the Bible teaches that you don’t need to become a Jew first to be a Christian – Jesus is for all people, both Jews and non-Jews. Watch the film to discover more about the link between Judaism and Christianity.Bookmark
