Saint Andrew
What do we know about the patron saint of Scotland?
Saint Andrew was one of Jesus' original disciples and the brother of Saint Peter, the first Bishop of Rome. Andrew was a networker, someone who was good at connecting people together. This is a skill that God used to help build the early church.
He travelled around the world to preach the gospel, believed to have even travelled to Scotland. Others believe that after his death several of his relics - items that belonged to him - were taken to Fife in Scotland.
Whilst we can't know for sure if either of these things happened, we do know that some people believe they did and that this is why he is the patron saint of Scotland.
