Produced in 1562, nearly thirty years after the Church of England (also known as the Anglican Church) was born, the 39 Articles of Religion set out some key beliefs in a series of statements.
The articles contain beliefs that the Church has about, including:
- The Trinity
- Salvation
- The Bible
- Original sin
- The resurrection.
Article 4 details the Church’s belief in the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
“CHRIST did truly rise again from death, and took again his body, with flesh, bones, and all things appertaining to the perfection of Man’s nature; wherewith he ascended into Heaven, and there sitteth, until he return to judge all Men at the last day.”
