Parables: The Talents

How can we make the most of the gifts that we have?

In this parable, Jesus speaks about a rich man who was going on a journey. Before he left, he gave his servants some talents (which is a sum of money in the New Testament period).

What will the servants do? Will they try to invest or will they just hide it under their bed?

Christians believe that, like the servants in this story, we have all been given gifts. Like the servants, we too can decide whether we use them or not. But what happens when we make those choices? Watch the film to find out. After, think about:

  • What does this parable teach Christians?
  • How might they apply it to their lives?

You can read about this parable in Matthew 25:14-30.
