Agape (love)

Spoken word video about Agape love

As part of our UNDER_GROUND project, we have teamed up with Mr K to produce spoken word videos around 5 of the biggest topics taught in Religious Education. Mr K is an inspiring and engaging Spoken Word Artist and Headteacher of an Alternative Provision School.

In this video, Mr K explains that while in English there is only one word for love, in Greek there are many words:

  1. Philia - friendships
  2. Storgi - family
  3. Eros - romantic
  4. Agape - unconditional love

Discussion questions:

  • How is agape love different to the other types of love mentioned?
  • What does this tell Christians about the character of God?
  • How might this impact how Christians treat other people?
