Forgiveness
Spoken word video about Forgiveness
As part of our UNDER_GROUND project, we have teamed up with Mr K to produce spoken word videos around 6 of the biggest topics taught in Religious Education. Mr K is an inspiring and engaging Spoken Word Artist and Headteacher of an Alternative Provision School.
In this video, we explore the topic of forgiveness. The Bible teaches that Christians should forgive others as God has forgiven them. Even though humanity falls short of God's standards, God shows His love and forgiveness through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross.
"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Ephesians 4:32 (NIV)
Discussion Questions:
- How does Mr K describe the feelings we might have when we don't forgive others?
- Who does Mr K say are the villains and who is the hero?
- Why does the Bible say we should forgive others?
In the video, Mr K says: "In no way am I giving licence to abuse and hurt". Forgiveness does not mean we allow people to continue hurting us. However, without forgiveness then the feelings of bitterness and anger can continue hurting us long after the initial harmful situation.
