Charity: Intercontinental Church Society

What does ICS do?

The Intercontinental Church Society is an International Church of England mission agency. They aim to share Jesus with people who speak English, who find themselves living, studying, working or holidaying away from home in countries where English is not the main language. They do this by:

  • setting up and supporting international churches
  • outreach to tourists through their seasonal chaplains
  • helping people find churches abroad.

The organisation was founded in 1823 and has worked in most parts of the world looking after the spiritual and practical needs of people from countless nationalities, backgrounds and economic circumstances. From the 1830s onwards they began planting churches in mainland Europe and now their work is mainly focused on mainland Europe, and places in and around the Mediterranean.
