Places: St. Davids Cathedral

Take a virtual tour of this remarkable building

St Davids Cathedral is found in Wales, in the city of St Davids in fact! A monastery was founded in the 6th century by St David, the patron saint of Wales. From then onwards it has been recognised as a holy place.

The current building was started in 1181, with a number of features added to it over the following centuries. To find out more take a virtual tour of St. David's Cathedral, clicking on each of the circles to see pictures. While you are doing this, think about finding the answer to the following questions:

  • Who gave the cathedral the Chapel of St. Thomas Becket?
  • Who was Edward the Confessor?
  • What sits in the shoulder of St David's statue?
  • Why do people go on pilgrimages to St Davids?
