Bible Quest: Judges & Kings

Who were the Judges and Kings of Israel?

In the Old Testament, God set up the nation of Israel as His special people. God was their King and appointed people to help lead the Israelites. These people were called 'Judges'.

After a while, the Israelites decided that they wanted to be like other nations and have a king. One of God's prophets was called Samuel. He tried to warn the Israelites about what would happen to them if they got a king. He told them that a king could boss them about and get them to do anything he wanted. Plus, he could take their money, crops and land away from them. But they wouldn't listen. So God told Samuel to find a man called Saul and make him the first king of the Israelites.

This video explores all the judges and kings of the Old Testament.
